SILENT VIGIL

We stand in peaceful protest of the spreading violence throughout the world, and call upon government and non-government agencies, corporations, groups, and individuals to do everything in their power to prevent and end violence around the globe
We are drawn from diverse faiths & backgrounds, religious and secular, to actively oppose all that leads to violence among people and nations and the bankruptcy of the human spirit it represents.
We stand in silent vigil united in resolve and purpose, to struggle against the use of violence as a means to settle disagreement and disputes at all levels. To do so we need to start with our own hearts and minds, joining with all persons clear in thought and mind and faith, inviting them to find common ground.
Please join with us as we stand here now and in coming weeks for one hour at the end of our working week, Fridays, 4 to 5 pm.

  1.  ELEVATE 2016  |May 27, 28, 29  |Greater Sudbury

The 3rd Annual ELEVATE  will take place over the weekend of May 27-29, 2016.  30+churches, and Community Action Networks (CAN) and volunteer groups will unite across Greater Sudbury to perform acts of love and service in various neighbourhoods throughout the city.

The vision of Elevate is to serve as a catalyst for increased unity in the Christian community, which will lead to greater intentionality in our love and service of our neighbours in co-operation with Community Action Networks (CANs).  The name and slogan "Elevate: Love in Motion" finds its source in a passage of Scripture (Philippians 2:1-11) which was a hymn in the early church, expressing the essence of the self-sacrificial love of God revealed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and the call for the followers of Jesus to imitate and embody such a posture of humble love and service.

Save the dates, get involved, ask your clergy to join with other churches in your Ward, decide on a community service project, do it, celebrate!

Prayer
Thanks and Praise for the Holy Redeemer Homework Club

Lord, thank you for the help which Holy Redeemer Parish has initiated for its students through the Homework Club:

We, at Holy Redeemer, are very excited to offer afterschool homework assistance to any students requiring one-on-one help in completing homework.
We know that in the business of everyday life, it can be very difficult for parents to support their children in completing homework and this can hinder their
academic performance. We also know that children benefit greatly from tutoring. Unfortunately, parents cannot always afford such a service and we are
committed to providing this extra help FREE of charge. We have several high school students signed up to assist younger students as well as a qualified bilingual
teacher present for each session. Our desire is to have our youth gain valuable experience in outreach to the community by sharing their knowledge and skills with
younger students.
When: Mon., Tues., & Wed. from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

Thanks and Praise for the $200 000 raised to keep LifeSiteNews going and growing

Thank you, God, for how encouraging that pro-lifers have supported LifeSiteNews financially, which will enable them to continue to bring the pro-life point of view to us.

Prayer for ELEVATE

We pray, Holy Spirit, that you would flow through our Greater Sudbury Churches and bring us together in love and truth to show our community what “love in action” is

Citizen Response

1.     TAKE 20 MINUTES TO PROTECT VULNERABLE CANADIANS
Even after a parliamentary committee made news for recommending expansive access to assisted suicide, some MPs say they’re surprised at how little feedback they’ve received from their constituents (according to a recent EFC blog post). Learn how it can take less than half an hour for you to add your voice on this issue at this crucial time at theEFC.ca/EuthanasiaUrgentAction.

2.     NEW RESOURCE: GIVE YOUR MP THE DETAILS
Now on our website: a briefing kit to equip you and your MP to consider the issues of the new assisted-suicide laws being developed. This collection of PDF documents summarizes the EFC’s key concerns and offers relevant testimony from medical professionals and others. It also includes a summary of the EFC’s submission to the parliamentary committee, two informative EFC blog posts and the text of the Declaration Against Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide. You can use the content for background when you contact your MP, or you can share it with your MP or with others who are concerned about the issue.

3.     Post Card Campaign for Molly Matters – Bill C-255 Coming Up in Parliament

Who is Molly?

Justice needed for pre-born victims of crime
Cassandra Kaake was found bludgeoned to death in a burned out Windsor, Ontario residence last month. Police revealed that Ms. Kaake was seven months pregnant at the time of her death. Her murder is a tragedy, but she wasn’t the only one who lost a life. Her pre-born baby girl did too. Yet her daughter is not recognized as a person under Canadian criminal law because she hadn’t yet exited her mother’s womb. And because of that legal deficiency, no murder charge will ever be laid against the person who took her life.
Cassandra KaakeAccording to Dr. Greg Hasen, academic director of obstetrics for the Schulich School of Medicine, Ms. Kaake’s pre-born child was fully developed at 30 weeks gestation. In spite of that, there will be no additional charge of murder should the perpetrators of this heinous crime be found.
Cassandra had already named her pre-born daughter Molly. She is a person; a human with a unique story. But there will never be justice for Molly because she isn’t recognized as a human being according to our criminal law. This needs to change.

How You Can Help:

Show your support for Cassie and Molly's Law

We Need a Law

REQUEST YOUR FREE POSTCARDS NOW!

Hey everyone!

Just last week, Cassie and Molly's law (Bill C-225) was deemed votable in the House of Commons. This is excellent news and means that all MPs will be debating and voting on Cassie and Molly’s Law in the coming months!

Now it’s your turn to make a difference by ensuring that the MPs know there is support from across Canada for the bill to become law!

In cooperation with the Molly Matters team we have developed a postcard campaign with the goal of reaching as many MPs as possible over the coming months.  You can do this on your own, or get together with a bunch of friends or family and have a postcard and pizza party. :)

Here is what we will send you:
•           One (or more) pack of 25 postcards
•           A list of 25 MPs to whom you will address and send you postcards
•           Talking points to help you in writing a message on the reverse side of the postcards
Postage to the House of Commons is free and this method ensures that every MP will receive a stack of postcards on his or her desk. All you need to do is order your postcards and tell all your friends about it!

We have a limited time-frame for this campaign, so place your order now! Please send an email to cassy@weneedalaw.ca and let her know your address and the number of packages you would like to receive!

https://c-fam.org/stop-un-global-tax/

C-Fam was founded in 1997 in order to monitor and affect the social policy debate at the United Nations and other international institutions.

An essential part of C-Fam’s work is to cover the UN like journalists. Each week we publish the Friday Fax, which is the only weekly source of social conservative news coming out of UN headquarters in New York City. The Friday Fax is an originally researched and reported news article prepared by C-Fam staff members who attend UN meetings and conferences as well as closely reading numerous UN documents.

Thank you once again for standing up against the Global UN Tax and for life.

Sincerely,

Austin Ruse

  1. Petition to Save Canada’s Office of Religious Freedom

Unless we take immediate action, the Office of Religious Freedom will be shut down!

Canada's Office of Religious Freedom has been a bastion against persecution and discrimination based on religious belief. We must urge the government to take all steps to prevent its closure!

Almost 77% of the world's population lives in countries with "high government restrictions" on freedom of religion or where there is significant "social hostility" to such liberty. And crackdowns on religious liberty are increasing globally.
Ask Minister Dion to save the Office of Religious Freedom: http://www.citizengo.org/en/pr/33743-save-canadas-office-religious-freedom

Recent events show how important it is that Canada prioritizes freedom of religion in its domestic and foreign policy... On Easter Sunday, a suicide bomber attacked Pakistani Christians as they picnicked in the park. Yazidis, Christians, and other religious minorities are being exterminated by ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Tibetan Buddhists,Sunni Muslim Uighurs in China, and Iranian Baha'is all experience persecution in their countries as well.
The Office of Religious Freedom has been a bastion against persecution and discrimination based on religious belief.

Sign the petition to save it here: http://www.citizengo.org/en/pr/33743-save-canadas-office-religious-freedom
The Office's mandate expires on March 31, 2016, and the Parliament rejected a motion to extend the mandate by a vote of 226-90. Unless we act now, the Office may be closed by the end of the week!

Sign this petition urging Prime Minister Trudeau and Foreign Affairs Minister Stéphane Dion to do whatever it takes to save the Office of Religious Freedom!

http://www.citizengo.org/en/pr/33743-save-canadas-office-religious-freedom

Thanks for signing the petition and for partnering with CitizenGO to promote human rights such as religious freedom around the globe.
Sincerely,

  1. Petition the United Nations Re: Women’s Health
U.N. Women is promoting abortion

Women in many parts of the globe need basic necessities, such as food, water, shelter, or employment. Unfortunately "U.N. Women" only seems interested in giving them abortions.

The United Nation's 60th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is in progress right now, under the slogan "women's empowerment and its link to sustainable development."

Unfortunately, U.N. Women and powerful abortion lobby groups are trying to falsely promote abortion as a means of empowering women.

Sign the petition to send a message to U.N. Women telling them to stop promoting abortion and to focus on what women really want!
http://www.citizengo.org/en/lf/33673-un-women-promoting-abortion

I've worked on pro-life issues at the U.N. for several years. According to fellow pro-life advocates there, this is the first time that abortion is being openly defended, without the usual diplomatic euphemisms.
So open, in fact, that the U.N. Population Fund is sharing an event with Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the United States, which is accused of harvesting and trafficking aborted baby body parts.

I've listed some of the outrageous statements from various CSW events on our petition page. They will say unbelievable things behind closed doors, when they think only the U.N. elites are listening...

Now is the time to advocate for the REAL needs of REAL women. Write a message to UN Women and send your complaint about their promotion of abortion.
http://www.citizengo.org/en/lf/33673-un-women-promoting-abortion

Please send your message today and then post the petition link on Facebook so that others can send messages too, before it's too late.

Let's flood their inboxes with our pro-life voices!

Josh Craddock and the entire CitizenGO team

  1. Northern Hope Refugee Sponsorship Opportunity to Help

Hi Folks,
Thanks so much for your patience and willingness to help out. I have some info and updates on the sponsorship of a Syrian refugee family for you and it is getting exciting.  We are moving ahead with a family and depending on how quickly things happen, we could have a family here in as little as 6 weeks!  A  form that you can fill out about what areas you are interested in helping and is available through Kim McNabb at the northernhope2016@gmail.com address.  She is helping to co-ordinate all of the teams for getting ready for the family to arrive and for once they are on the ground.  Any questions about roles on the teams could be addressed to her.  Some of the teams are done shortly after they arrive and some require longer commitments.  If you are interested in financial support I can address those questions.
Thanks again for reaching out to those who need a hand up!

Pastor Josh Sklar          northernhope2016@gmail.com

2.     “God’s Not Dead 2” finished its run at Silver City on April 14th

Editor’s Note:  “God’s Not Dead” is available to borrow at the Sudbury Public Library.   I borrowed it, and was touched in my core to read in the Credits that the story was based on hundreds of cases in which Christians turned to the Courts to deal with discrimination and freedom.

A friend’s response to “God’s Not Dead 2”:

Wasn't that an excellent movie?

When the lawyer put the teacher on the stand the question he asked her was, "you told me God speaks to you, tell the people what He said to you"

Matthew 16:16. Jesus asks Peter, who do you say that I am?  Peter answered "you are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

God was reminding her that no matter what man says, or what the world says, it is what and who we believe in.  O what power in the name of JESUS .

3.     “Miracles are From Heaven” is still showing at Silver City Cinema
Editor’s Note:  This is an emotionally intense movie, from beginning to end.    The casting and acting are excellent.     What I loved about it was the portrayal of a family of faith and how they dealt with a big problem.

4.     Faith Goldy of Rebel Media – Segment on Problems in Halifax Schools with Canadian children and Refugee children

Last week an article by the Chronicle Herald detailed multiple instances of Syrian refugees assaulting Canadian children.  The story was pulled soon after it was posted with members of the left-wing media decrying the story as "racist," "Islamophobic," "xenophobic" or simply just not true.

In place of the story, an apologetic message was left in its place saying the story needed more research and was "insensitive" to the refugees.

The Herald also didn't like how its story found its way onto "right-wing" websites that are critical of mass Muslim migration.

And in a letter on the Halifax regional school board’s website, Superintendent Elwin LeRoux called the complaints by parents in the paper “unsubstantiated accusations” and insisted they were “not true.”

However, the Herald did admit that other parents had come forward with stories of their children being attacked.

In the aftermath of this story and the Herald's self-censorship, no one in the Media Party bothered to do any research.

The Rebel, however, did.

Multiple parents and even one student spoke to Rebel reporter Faith Goldy who confirmed initial reports in the Herald's story.

…..

That’s exactly why not a single major media organization sent even one employee to Chebucto Heights to actually talk to the parents there… many of these media organizations, by the way, have offices right there… IN HALIFAX…

Our job as journalists is to tell the story.

But they didn’t believe the story could be true.

So they just didn’t bother to find out.

Daily Chuckle
                                      CHILDREN

To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are
our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students... here is
 something to make you chuckle.

Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort
from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to
 His own children.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve.

And the first thing he said was "DON'T!"

"Don't what?" Adam replied.

"Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said.

"Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit?
Hey Eve. we have forbidden fruit!"

"No Way!"

"Yes way!"

"Do NOT eat the fruit! " said God.

"Why?"

"Because I am your Father and I said so! " God replied, wondering
why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants.

A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break
 and He was ticked!

"Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit? " God asked.

"Uh huh," Adam replied.

"Then why did you? " said the Father.

"I don't know," said Eve.

"She started it! " Adam said.

"Did not! "

"Did too! "

"DID NOT! "

Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that
Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern
was set and it has never changed.

BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY!

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom
and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself.  After all,
if God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would
be a piece of cake for you ?

With My Love & Prayers,
     your servant Allen

Words of Wisdom

Commoonion

Two human beings changed history by walking on the surface of the moon. But what happened before Buzz Aldrin (pictured in the LM, left) and Neil Armstrong exited the Lunar Module is perhaps even more amazing, if only because so few people know about it.

I'm talking about the fact that Buzz Aldrin took communion on the surface of the moon. Some months after his return, he wrote about it in Guideposts magazine. And a few years ago I had the privilege of meeting him myself. I asked him about it and he confirmed the story to me, and I wrote about in my book Everything You Always Wanted to Know About God (But Were Afraid to Ask).

The background to the story is …………..
