Speaker:  J.P. Rank

J.P. Rank, a native Sudburian and 31 year old Christian university graduate, believes that abortion is doing massive damage to this country, not only to the immediate victims of this unspeakable crime, but also to our entire society, given the widespread and systematic complicity required to allow such a great evil to occur on such a large scale.  If Canada is to have a future, this cannot go on.

Information about the ON Sex Ed Curriculum

Editor’s Note:  An excellent source of information is PEACE

They have documents available entitled:
Does our comprehensive sex ed curriculum work?
Specific grade by grade details
SEX EDUCATION - Equipping Parents, Church & Youth

What is the most effective source for sex ed instruction for our children? Parents? Church? School? Secular Society?  Many are concerned about the sex ed programs in schools. Is there a better source of information that will help youth to make the best sexual decisions of their lives?

Know the Facts:
Teen Sexual Activity – National Info
•           21% of gr. 9 and 43% of gr. 11 students report having sexual intercourse (1)
•           32.5% of sexually active youth report having sex with more than one partner(1)
•           25% of grade nine students and 50% of grade 11 students participated in oral sex (1)
•           10% of high schools students have participated in anal sex (1)
Consequences of teen sexual activity
•           Teen pregnancy rates in Northern Ontario are 25% to 100% higher than the provincial average
•           Chlamydia rates (Sexually Transmitted Infection) have increased more than 350% since 1998   (3)
•           15 – 24 year olds (only 12.3% of population) account for 67% of chlamydia cases  (4)
•           Oral Cancer rates have increased 350% since 2012 - due to oral sex.
•           STIs contribute to serious, life-threatening complications including cancers, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, spontaneous abortions, stillbirth, low birth weight, neurologic damage, and death.
Whether or not a pregnancy or STI occurs, early teen sexual activity has been associated with poorer academic achievement in school, poorer emotional health for adolescents (lower self-esteem, regret of sexual activity, depression, and suicide) as well as a higher likelihood of experiencing sexual exploitation, dating violence, and unwanted or forced intercourse/rape. (6)
Let’s not forget the loss to our spiritual culture when the faith community ignores what is going on.
What do teens say they need?                                                                                        When sexually active teens are surveyed about how to address the issue of teen sexual activity, teen pregnancy, and STI rates, this is what they report:
•           40% of teens report school sex ed classes make them feel pressured to have sex (8)
•           78% of sexually active teens say they wish they had waited.  When asked what they needed to delay early sex, they respond with training on refusal skills. (9)
•           up to 90% of teens who regret engaging in sex, wish their parent(s) had talked to them (9)
•           70% of teens believe the faith community should be more involved with teaching kids about the subject (9)
Mentoring youth to make healthy, medically accurate and biblically aligned decisions.
The research proves, that the most effective agents
of influence on the sexual decisions of a child are:
1)         Parents (even the Ontario sex ed curriculum affirms the influence of parents)
2)         Church – should help people to understand the role of sexual relations within their faith/values
3)         Secular Society – which includes media, internet porn, peers, and schools.

Unfortunately parents and the church admit that they feel ill-equipped to instruct on sexuality and for the most part ignore this most important aspect of life. When do children have questions, if there has not been trust built with parents and the church, the child seeks answer within secular sources, most often internet porn

Equipping Parents, Church & Youth
To fill the need, PEACE offers internationally acclaimed, tested and proven programs to equip parenting adults and the church to empower children and youth to make healthy, medically accurate, biblically aligned decisions ….
•           Building Family Connections (BFC) - an 8 – 10 hour training developed by the Medical Institute for Sexual Health.  This program equips parenting adults (parents, grand parents, church leaders, youth workers, anyone with input into the life of a child) to begin the life-long discussion about sex and healthy relationships with their children & youth.

•           Heritage Keepers (HK) - is a 7 ½ hour classroom based curriculum for youth ages 11 to 18.  In addition to understanding reproduction and STIs this sexual risk avoidance program teaches the realities of teen sexual activity and the benefits of forming healthy families, develops a strong sense of personal identity, helps the child to set protective boundaries and resist negative peer pressure, and develop their sexual refusal skills.
HK has been tested in large, well-matched, control-group studies.  When taught in a public school setting it is proven reduce teen sexual activity by 67%.
PEACE works with faith communities to offer these programs as part of a Friday night – Saturday weekend seminar called, “Stand Firm Love True”.  PEACE began implementing these programs in Durham, Toronto, and Hamilton and the response from parents, youth and church leadership has been very positive.

Why Jack Phillips’ win at the Supreme Court was a win for Christian conservatives

June 5, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – There’s a lot of discussion about Monday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision which pitted religious freedoms against LGBT rights. Was the ruling really that significant? Since it was so narrow in scope, should Christian conservatives really rejoice? Did the justices merely kick the can down the road?

Humpty Dumpty Deserved to Fall – by Barbara Kay        July 2018

….”Dumpty and his haughty command of language were channeled last year by Canada’s federal government in Bill C-16, which amended the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code to protect gender identity and gender expression. It legitimized an array of gender neutral pronouns recently invented by transgender rights advocates and their progressive acolytes.

As a result the dogma of gender fluidity and its expression is now enshrined in Canadian law. And just as it was once illegal – and dangerous – to criticize the Catholic Church and its dogmas, it is now illegal and dangerous to criticize the Church of Gender Identity and its dogmas….”

New Audio Podcast: Trinity Western’s Controversial Community Covenant – An Interview with TWU President Bob Kuhn
TWU's decision to change the requirement for students to sign a community covenant was welcomed by some and met with dismay by others. TWU President Bob Kuhn joined the EFC podcast to explain why TWU made this decision, whether a law school is still in the works and what message he has for people wondering why TWU engaged in its legal battle, only to eventually change its requirement for students to sign the controversial community covenant.

More Sunday School Humor

The Sunday School Teacher asks, "Now, Johnny, tell me frankly do you say prayers before eating?"
"No sir," little Johnny replies, "I don't have to.  My Mom is a good cook."

A college drama group presented a play in which one character would stand on a trap door and announce, "I descend into hell!"
A stagehand below would then pull a rope, the trapdoor would spring, and the actor would drop from view.
The play was well received. When the actor playing the part became ill, another actor who was quite overweight took his place.  When the new actor announced, "I descend into hell!" the stagehand pulled the rope, and the actor began his plunge, but became hopelessly stuck.  No amount of tugging on the rope could make him descend.
One student in the balcony jumped up and yelled: "Hallelujah! Hell is full!"

Pastor Dave Charlton tells us, "After a worship service at First Baptist Church in Newcastle, Kentucky, a mother with a fidgety seven-year old boy told me how she finally got her son to sit still and be quiet. About halfway through the sermon, she leaned over and whispered, 'If you don't be quiet, Pastor Charlton is going to lose his place and will have to start his sermon all over again!'
It worked."

One Sunday in a Midwest city, a young child was "acting up" during the morning worship hour. The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle. Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out. Just before reaching the safety of the foyer, the little one called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for me! Pray for me!"

Sudbury faith: Jesus offers a solid foundation

Is Christianity brainwashing? I was asked this question years back by someone who wanted to take part in church activities, but wasn't quite sure. What was my answer? Did I rush to assure that of course Christianity has nothing to do with brainwashing? Did I ask "where did you hear that" with my most dumbfounded voice? No. Without hesitation I said "Absolutely. Christianity is brainwashing." Because I think it is.
